Silent vigil outside Barclays Bank, Exeter on the last Saturday of each month
Please join us for our regular peaceful silent vigil outside Barclays bank in Exeter. We will be there to draw attention to Barclays’ investments in fossil fuels and we’ll have leaflets for passers-by about how to easily change accounts to a more ethical bank.
We’ll meet at 11 am under the shelter of the old Debenhams store in Bedford Street then walk in silence to the bank. We’ll be finished by 1pm. If possible, please wear broadly black for best visual impact.
Barclays is Europe’s largest funder of fossil fuel projects. Between 2016 and 2022 it invested more than $190.58 billion in fossil fuels, against the advice from the International Energy Agency, United Nations and the UK Government’s Climate Change Committee. The bank is choosing short term profits over the lives of millions of people who will suffer as a result of the projects they are financing.
