Dear Sir,
After the recent International Panel on Climate Change report, U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres said, “There is no time for delay & no room for excuses. This…must sound a death knell for coal and fossil fuels, before they destroy our planet.”
In spite of this, Barclays is the biggest european investor in the fossil fuel industry. Rather than investing in sustainable renewable energy sources, the 12 biggest oil companies are going to spend $103 million every day for the rest of the decade drilling for new gas and oil. It’s clear that Barclays are putting profits before people and are willing to jeopardise the planet in order to make a quick buck.
I agree with Sir David Attenborough when he says” It’s crazy that our banks are investing in fossil fuels when these are the very things which are jeopardising the future we are saving for”.
I protest and call for Barclays Bank stop this unacceptable and harmful policy, which threatens our world and the lives of future generations.
