Hello Rebel

This time, updates about the regular climate cafe, this week’s General Meeting and a local job opportunity. Rebels can join the new Telegram broadcast channel here: https://t.me/xrexeteractnow.

As always, you can visit the Exeter XR Facebook page or Exeter Forum – and website – for the latest updates as they happen.

Exeter Climate Cafe
It has been over two months now since the climate cafes started in Exeter and they are being very well received so far. Although not an XR project, these safe and friendly spaces are open to anyone and everyone who cares about our planet. We meet every Wednesday morning at Exeter Phoenix from 10.30am until midday to share our feelings about climate change and the ecological crisis. Connecting with others and feeling a sense of community is so important at this time. There is no charge unless you’d like to buy yourself coffee and cake. More details on Facebook or see you there next Wednesday https://www.facebook.com/groups/exeterclimatecafe

Job Opportunity
There is a role of Climate & Ecological Emergency Resilience Officer is available at Exmouth Town Council. An idea opportunity for someone within the XR network.

Request for Ideas
This is a request came out of the Devon Circle. It’s a call for ideas from all the creative minds in local groups.

The SW needs an overarching theme or message for the summer uprising; something that brings the variety of actions taking place across the region under one umbrella. For example, Stopping the Harm to show we are actively trying to stop harm in all our different ways, not just demanding – more ideas welcome…

Other questions include: What is your desired duration for the September Rebellion? What will be its targets or aims?

Dates for Regional Action in July
Please note, for those who need it there is help available for travel and accommodation.

9 / 10 July: We are invited to join rebels in South Wales re. license to extract more coal from a mine in S Wales.
16 July: March in North Devon – details tbc
16 / 17 / 18 July: Regional focus on Plymouth. Planning in progress, there will be opportunities for outreach and protest.
